At Cocoa Skin Company, we are dedicated to providing the latest in cutting-edge treatments designed to elevate your skin's natural beauty. For an even more rejuvenating experience, we offer microneedling combined with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). This revolutionary pairing harnesses the healing properties of your body's own platelets, delivering a powerful boost of growth factors and nutrients directly into the skin. This results in a complexion that radiates vitality and youthfulness. Experience the synergy of microneedling and PRP, and step into a future where your skin glows with confidence and health.

  • What are Dermal Fillers?
Injected dermal fillers are products containing collagen, hyaluronic acid (HA), or calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) and help rejuvenate facial skin by reducing or removing wrinkles, raising scar depressions, and enhancing lips, while replacing age-related volume loss through injections.
  • How does it work?
Dermal fillers help reverse many of the most visible signs of aging by: Smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines. Adding volume to the cheeks and lips. Contouring the jawline and chin. Softening nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Reducing under-eye bags and dark circles. Correcting facial asymmetry. The Restylane & RHA family of fillers used at Cocoa Skin Company contain hyaluronic acid (HA). Water molecules in your skin bind the HA molecules, giving your skin a hydrated, natural appearance. Results may last up to two years! Radiesse is a calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) filler that provides immediate contouring plus stimulation of your body’s own collagen and elastin production. CaHA particles integrate into your skin and create a “scaffold” that stimulates production of collagen and elastin. Eventually, this newly-formed collagen and elastin replaces the correction provided by the filler itself, smoothing lines and promoting renewed skin structure immediately, with continued improvement over time. Several treatments may be needed to achieve optimal results, spread out over the course of weeks to months. The number of treatments varies based on area of correction, and the amount of volume you have lost due to aging. Every situation is unique, so it’s critical to set up a consultation with our aesthetic experts to determine the most effective treatment strategy for your specific requirements and needs.
  • Does it hurt?
Filler is injected into specific areas in your face using a tiny needle or cannula during the procedure. The filler injection is quick and relatively painless, with a minimal recovery period. The level of discomfort felt varies from person to person and also can depend on which area is being treated. The good news is that our experienced providers employ several techniques to minimize any discomfort you may experience.
  • What are the side effects?
Dermal fillers are considered safe when administered by our highly qualified healthcare professionals. However, like any medical procedure, there are potential side effects that you should be aware of before deciding to undergo treatment. It's crucial to discuss potential side effects and risks with us before the procedure. Be sure to disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are taking to ensure your safety and to determine if dermal fillers are the right choice for you. Most side effects of dermal fillers are mild and temporary, resolving within a few days to a week. However, if you experience severe or persistent side effects, you should contact us immediately. Common side effects of dermal fillers include: Bruising: Mild bruising at the injection site is a common side effect and usually resolves within a few days to a week. Swelling: Some degree of swelling is normal after receiving dermal fillers, particularly in areas like the lips or under the eyes. It usually subsides within a few days. Redness: The injection sites may appear slightly red immediately after the procedure, but this typically fades quickly. Pain or Discomfort: As mentioned earlier, some people may experience mild pain or discomfort during the injection process. Itching: Itching at the injection site can occur but is usually temporary. Allergic Reactions: Although rare, some individuals may have an allergic reaction to the filler material. If you have a history of allergies, it's essential to inform your healthcare provider before the procedure. Infection: Infection at the injection site is a potential risk. To minimize this risk, ensure that the procedure is performed in a sterile environment by a qualified professional. Lumps or Bumps: Occasionally, lumps or bumps may develop under the skin at the injection site. These are usually temporary and can be massaged out by the healthcare provider. Vascular Complications: In extremely rare cases, dermal filler injections can enter a blood vessel, leading to vascular complications and tissue damage. At Cocoa Skin Company, our providers have advanced training in anatomy and physiology, to give you the safest and most natural outcome. Choosing a skilled and experienced injector reduces the risk of such complications.
  • What is the down time?
The downtime associated with dermal fillers is generally minimal compared to more invasive cosmetic procedures. Downtime refers to the recovery period during which you may experience visible side effects, such as swelling, bruising, or redness, and may need to avoid certain activities. The actual downtime can vary from person to person and depends on factors such as: Type of Filler: Different types of fillers have varying degrees of swelling and recovery times. Hyaluronic acid fillers, for example, tend to have shorter downtime compared to other fillers. Treatment Area: The location of the injections can also affect downtime. Areas with thinner skin, like the lips, may show more noticeable swelling or bruising. Individual Healing: Each person's body responds differently to dermal fillers, and individual healing rates can vary. Amount of Filler: The amount of filler used can influence the extent of swelling and bruising. Generally, the downtime for dermal fillers can range from a few hours to a few days. Here's a rough guideline of what you might expect: Immediately After the Procedure: You may experience some redness, swelling, and possibly bruising at the injection sites. These effects are normal and typically subside within a few hours. The First 24-48 Hours: Swelling and bruising may be more noticeable during this period. Applying ice packs and avoiding strenuous activities can help reduce swelling and promote faster healing. 2-7 Days After the Procedure: Most of the visible side effects should resolve within a week. If there is still some residual swelling or bruising, it can usually be easily concealed with makeup. Long-Term Results: The final results of the dermal filler treatment become more apparent as any initial swelling subsides, and the filler settles into place. Depending on the type of filler used, the results can last from several months to over a year. It's important to follow any aftercare instructions provided by us which may include avoiding certain medications, alcohol, or strenuous activities for a short period after the procedure to promote optimal healing. If you have any specific concerns about the downtime or recovery process associated with dermal fillers, it's best to discuss them with us before the procedure. We can give you personalized advice based on your individual circumstances.
  • When will I see results?
You may have some mild bruising and swelling afterward, but they will soon disappear. You should notice some immediate changes, and you’ll see wrinkles begin to vanish within 24 hours after the therapy, with more changes taking place gradually over the next week or two!
  • How long will results last?
The duration of dermal fillers varies depending on the type of filler used and many individual factors. Generally, hyaluronic acid fillers can last from 6 months to 1 year, while other fillers like calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid may last longer, up to 1-2 years. However, it's important to note that individual metabolism, lifestyle, and the area treated can all influence how long the results will last. After this period, you may need to undergo additional treatments to maintain the desired effects.
